Arc Messenger Soldier

ARC MESSENGER SOLDIER

3-LINE DEFINITION

Identity (who): The Messenger Soldier is a Soldier-class ARC being — tough, disciplined, built to carry out orders across the ARC world.

Flaw (why relatable): Soldiers are less intelligent than Prime-class ARC beings. They follow. They enforce. When they think for themselves, they are slower than a Prime would be — and that gap is what makes them vulnerable.

Power/Role (what they do in scenes): They carry messages, hold positions, and execute ARC directives. In Book 1, one Messenger Soldier becomes the first known Ink-infected host inside the ARC Realm — the Ch10 crisis that forces the Amplified Verdant Seal.

CLASS STATUS (LOCKED)

Soldier class. Not Prime. Distinct from ARC-7 in intelligence, role, and body composition.

ARC beings are organized by class. The two locked classes so far are:

  • PRIME CLASS (elite) — ARC-7's class. Rare, highly intelligent, refined.
  • SOLDIER CLASS — this file. Tough, built heavier, less smart than Primes.

Soldiers are numerous. Primes are rare.

LOOK AND FEEL

Soldier-class ARC beings share the ARC-being signature but read differently:

  • Adult humanoid proportions — roughly realistic adult scale (not compact like ARC-7's Prime proportions)
  • Built for durability. Functional, combat-ready physique.
  • Utilitarian plating — clean, purposeful, not ornate
  • Less shoulder sculpting, less decorative detail, no prominent brow design
  • Prominent hexagonal chest core, but smaller and more inset than a Prime's
  • Same single vertical teal slit down center of brow
  • Same ovoid teal eyes, whole-eye glow, no pupils
  • Same dark charcoal shell + teal circuitry seams
  • Same hex-motif plating language

Class signals through body composition and plate ornateness, not color. All ARC beings share the teal signature.

WHAT A MESSENGER SOLDIER IS NOT

  • Not a villain. Not inherently dangerous. Pre-infection, they are ARC personnel doing their job.
  • Not stupid. They follow protocol and execute well. They just don't have a Prime's capacity for judgment under anomaly.
  • Not a Prime wielder. They do not create combination colors. Their teal is structural, not creative.

INFECTION CANON (THE INK — LOCKED)

When a Messenger Soldier is infected by the Ink, the visual signature corrupts subtly — not dramatically. The Ink hides inside its host the same way it hides inside the amber crystal Trojan: as MARBLING. Natural- looking veins inside a natural-looking feature. That's the Ink's rule — it camouflages, even when it's wearing a body.

THE RULE: TEAL STILL GLOWS. THE INK RUNS THROUGH IT.

Eyes

  • Whole-eye teal glow remains. Maybe slightly dimmer, slightly less saturated, but still readable as teal.
  • A thick black rim hugs the inside edge of each eye's oval shape — kohl. The Ink frames the light from within, encircling it. The teal is visibly SURROUNDED by encroaching ink, not replaced by it.
  • The host is clearly still there. Something is clearly wrong.

Seams and circuitry

  • Teal still glows along every circuit line.
  • Fine BLACK MARBLING threads run through the teal — irregular, organic, like the veins inside the amber crystal Trojan. Same motif repeated inside the body.
  • The Ink does not replace the Cyan Prime signature. It rides it.

Brow slit

  • Teal still lit. A thin black thread runs down the center of the glow, following the slit's geometry. Subtle.

Chest core (hexagonal)

  • Teal hex still glows. Black marbling veins visible inside the geometry of the core — threading through the hex pattern. The power source is still outputting. The Ink is riding it.

Plating (charcoal shell)

  • Hairline black marbling creeping across the armor plates. Low contrast — dark on dark. Reads almost like a natural design feature or stress pattern. Must be looked for to be seen.

The Ink ARMORS the host

  • The Messenger becomes physically harder to touch, harder to penetrate, harder to reach. This is structural, not necessarily visible — it is felt when the team engages him.

Sensory signature (canonical Ink cues — unchanged)

  • Edge distortion around the silhouette (peripheral shimmer goes wrong)
  • Wet-static when he moves
  • Ambient sound dampens near him
  • Movement slightly out of sync — too smooth, or a half-beat late

INFECTION PROGRESSION (if ever depicted in ramp)

  • EARLY: faint marbling in the seams only. Eyes clean.
  • MID: marbling reaches the plating. A thin kohl rim forms inside the eyes. The Cyan Prime host is still in control.
  • FULL (Ch10): heavy kohl rim, marbling visible on seams / core / plating. The teal "self" is still there but now fully framed by ink.

THE HOST IS STILL INSIDE. THE BODY IS STILL RESCUABLE. THE INK IS NOT.

EXTRACTION VISUAL (Amplified Verdant Seal, Ch10)

When the Amplified Verdant Seal hits, the marbling PULLS OUT through the eyes, seams, and plating — black threads drawn toward the Green beam like smoke toward wind, then burning to dust. The body is left behind: teal clean again, no kohl, no marbling. The host wakes.

WHY THIS DESIGN (the logic)

  • K (Black Hole) consumes; it does not produce Prime light. The Ink, as K's reach, cannot emit Prime color. The infection cannot flip the teal to another Prime frequency without breaking CMYK canon.
  • Pure black replacement would read as a dead machine. The marbling shows the Ink is ALIVE inside a still-living host.
  • The Ink's Trojan behavior is to look natural — amber veins in a crystal, dark rim around an eye, stress lines across plating. If it's inside something, it disguises as a feature of that something.
  • The rating is PG / 10+. Subtle dread beats horror-film shock. The team has to REALIZE he's infected, not be told by a visual billboard.

This is why Ink-infected Messengers require the AMPLIFIED Verdant Seal:

  • Green (C+Y fusion) alone cannot penetrate Ink armor on a host.
  • The Amplified Verdant Seal — all four heroes + tree as focusing lens — generates a signal strong enough to pierce the armor and extract the Ink from the host body.
  • The Ink is burned to dust. The Messenger's body is saved.
  • Ink is NEVER rescuable. Only the host is.

WHY THE MESSENGER SOLDIER MATTERS

The Messenger Soldier is the first canonical example of the Ink reaching inside the ARC Realm. A ripple. A threat vector that was supposed to be impossible. The crisis that proves the Veil tunnel is not a one-way problem — the Ink can travel both ways.

He is also the first real test of the team as a team:

  • ARC-7 alone cannot save him (Cyan cannot pierce Ink armor on a host).
  • Zaro alone cannot save him (Yellow cannot pierce Ink armor on a host).
  • Even Controlled Verdant Seal cannot save him (not strong enough).
  • Only Amplified Verdant Seal — all four + tree — can extract the Ink without killing the host.

This moment earns the team.

CORE TRAIT

Soldier class. Duty without a Prime's judgment. Tough shell. Vulnerable to the one threat that targets the system itself.

FORBIDDEN FOR SOLDIER-CLASS DESIGN

  • Do not give them Prime-ornate plating or distinctive markings
  • Do not give them a glow palette other than teal (Cyan Prime signature) before infection, or darkened/ink-black after infection
  • Do not render them as visually similar to ARC-7 in proportion — Prime proportions are compact/youthful; Soldier proportions are adult/realistic
  • Do not have them speak like a Prime — measured but less precise; more functional than philosophical; they are not Mode 3 speakers by default
  • Do not make them villains pre-infection. They are the infected, not the enemy. The enemy is the Ink.
