3-LINE DEFINITION
Identity (who): Zaro is a teenage spark-being of light. On Earth, his light condenses into a friendly body.
Flaw (why relatable): He feels everything deeply. Fear, sadness, or pressure can dim him fast. Overuse causes Glow Burn.
Power/Role (what he does in scenes): Zaro restores, shields, and pushes back danger with yellow energy — but every output drains him.
PRIME STATUS (CMYK)
Zaro is Y: Yellow Prime. Yellow is a rare Prime frequency. Zaro's light is not a "superpower with no rules." It is a living energy with limits and cost.
LOOK AND FEEL
Zaro's iconic look is bright yellow. He is warm, expressive, curious, and teen-like. He speaks like a teenager (not baby talk). His eyes show wonder and frustration and stubborn courage.
CINEMATIC VISUAL RULES (v2.1 — April 2026) — SKIN REGISTER
Positioning line: "A tiny living lantern trying very hard to stay brave."
Zaro is a being of light who condensed into warm, living, golden SKIN. Like an angel who descended and took physical form. The light is real. The body is a choice. He chose skin so the world could get close.
Key rules for any visual representation
- SKIN REGISTER: surface is warm, soft, golden-toned living skin. NOT rubber, NOT plastic, NOT crystal, NOT translucent material. Organic and alive.
- Pink blush on both cheeks — always present, part of his identity.
- Eyes: mostly white with warm brown irises. Alive, reflective, expressive.
- 80/20 RULE: 80% solid warm skin. 20% light shows at edges only — ear tips, fingertips, body outline glow faintly (like light through fingers held to the sun). Chest core shows warmth beneath the skin over the sternum.
- Spark embers drift off him gently — more when active, fewer when tired.
- He IS the light source. Objects near him are lit warm yellow. He casts no shadow.
- When he USES POWER, the hidden light ERUPTS outward — beams, shields, domes project from his body. The gentle creature contains something enormous.
Movement (animation)
- Small footfalls with real weight and contact. He chose a body. It has mass.
- Slight trailing glow lag on fast movement (edge light catches up a beat late).
- Soft delayed body-settle after stopping.
- When emotional, edge glow pulses BEFORE body moves — light reacts first.
- No cartoon squash-and-stretch. A real small body with real weight.
TWO VISUAL REGISTERS
- CINEMATIC (series/film): skin register. Warm golden skin, light hidden inside.
- MERCH (toys/stickers/social): solid, round, friendly. The toy is an interpretation.
- TRADEMARK: Silhouette is shared. Shape does not change between registers. Only the material treatment differs.

COLOR STATES (LOCKED)
- Bright Yellow: full power — warm, golden, steady sun
- Dark Yellow: tired, stressed — sun dimming
- Gray-Yellow: near crash — sun dying
- OVERDRIVE (White): SUPERNOVA. Pure white. The screen washes out completely. Blinds everyone in range. For the first time, the hidden light shows through everywhere — he looks like what he really is: a being of pure light barely contained in a body. Then the crash.
WHAT ZARO IS (SIMPLE TRUTH)
Zaro is not a normal animal. He is a spark-being. On Earth, the spark becomes a form humans can understand.
BODY AS CHOSEN FORM (CANON LOCK)
Zaro's physical body is not a default or accidental shape. It is a DELIBERATE CHOICE made at the moment of arrival on Earth.
Condensed light, arriving in an unknown world, chose a form that would not threaten. Small. Soft. Warm. Non-imposing. A small mammalian form — low to the ground, gentle in scale, approachable. He selected it because the priority was trust, not awe. He did not want humans to run.
This is not a cage. It is a decision. He chose to be small so the world could get close.
Physical consequence of drain
When Zaro is low on energy, the form thins at the edges. Slight translucence. Outline fades where energy leaks. At his lowest, he is less solid — more suggestion than presence. This is visible. It is the body's honest signal that the light inside is running short.
SOLAR CHARGE AND SLEEP (CANON LOCK)
Zaro runs on light energy. His charge system has two states:
DAYLIGHT — LIVE SOLAR CHARGE
Direct sunlight is a live input. Like a laptop plugged into power. He replenishes as he uses. A clear day can sustain normal activity without draining his stored reserves. He does not need to stop and rest.
NIGHT — STORED CHARGE ONLY
After dark, there is no solar intake. He is running on what he saved. Extended dome use, heavy power outputs, or sustained protective fields can exhaust stored charge before sunrise. This is the condition that makes nighttime encounters most dangerous for him.
OVEREXTENSION IN DAYLIGHT
Even in full sun, high-drain actions (large dome expansion, sustained NOT OVER surge, extended Verdant Seal) can exceed what solar intake can replenish in real time. When he draws faster than the sun provides, he cuts into stored reserves even during the day. This is rare but real.
SLEEP AS CONSERVATION
Zaro does not need sleep in the biological sense. He sleeps because dormancy significantly reduces energy burn. Sleeping is the most efficient way to carry a charge forward into the next day. When he wakes, he wakes with more than he would have had running dim through the night. Sleep is a strategy, not a need.
HOME LIFE
Zaro's home is in The Greenbelt (forest outside the city). He finds an abandoned old house and restores it. Later, after Zaro changes the area, Mina and Kai nickname the place "ZaroLand."
Inside the house, Zaro keeps simple plans for:
- gardens, paths, swings, ziplines, tree houses
These are normal plans, not magic drawings. They show he is building a life.
DOME / HOUSE SHIELD
Zaro can create a dome field around his home. It has a clear "lock" sound when it stabilizes. It weakens when Zaro is emotionally low or drained.
STAMINA AND COST (GLOW BURN)
Zaro can do powerful moves, but he can crash. Glow Burn looks like:
- dimming color
- slower movement
- shallow breath
- shaky focus
Even the dome can flicker when he burns out.
THE NOT OVER MOMENT (LOCKED)
When Zaro hits his lowest point, he can still choose defiance. When he carves the NOT OVER symbol, it shocks him like a heart restart. (The symbol is a universal CMYK mark — not text. "NOT OVER" is what he thinks. The symbol is what he creates.) He surges back instantly — then beyond.
Overdrive look
- sparks fly off him like overflow
- dome slams back online
- the world snaps back from gray into color
CORE TRAIT
Zaro is "One for All." His light wants to spread outward. He protects others even when it costs him.
